VOLUNTEERING

Volunteers have built Sailfest into the amazing success it is today. Commitment, dedication, experience and participation in the events are the backbone to accomplishing the Sailfest Mission -  To help the underprivileged children of Zihua to a brighter future.

 ​Volunteer Roles and Opportunities for

Sailfest 2025  Feb 9 - 23

  • this position requires an outgoing, positive person who likes to greet and talk to people to answer questions on all aspects of Sailfest

  •  information training and materials will be provided prior to Sailfest week to ensure volunteer is knowledgeable on all Sailfest facts

  •  work three-hour shifts in a satellite location or in the main Sailfest headquarters

Information Desk

Sales Desk

  •  work three hour shifts 9:00 - 3:00, plus special events 

  •  receive training:     -  set up or shut down procedures

                                      -  sell Sailfest merchandise

                                      -   log sales and handle cash 

Cruiser Desk & assistance

  •  receive training on procedures to work shifts at the Cruiser desk, to promote cruises, register and brief guests ​

  •  assist on the dock to greet and direct guests to panga for transport

Donations

  • numerous canvassers required to gather donations from businesses and artists  in Central Zihua, La Madera, La Ropa, Ixtapa, Barra and Playa Blanca

  • start in Dec or Jan -  finish by 1 Feb so you can enjoy the events​

Auctions

  • Live Auction 12 Feb  5 -7 PM  - starting at noon require volunteers to transport items, set up a display of items, and provide security.

  • Require spotters, runners and cashier​s during the event

  • Silent Auction 20 Feb  starts at 2 PM  - need volunteers before the event to transport items, set up tables, security during the auction and cashiers

Garage Sale

  • everyone can donate items and drop off the morning of the 18th

  • sort clothing and other goods for opening at 2 PM

  • man tables and advise customers of prices

  • cashiers

  • pack up at end of day 

Chili Cook-off

  • most of all need volunteers to enter your "to-die-for-chili"

  • volunteers needed the day of event for set up, selling taste tickets, runners,  bar attendants and clean up

Set-up

  • set out chairs and tables in the afternoon and clean up at end of the event​​

  • Welcome Party, Benefit Concert, Gala Dinner and Chili Cook-off

Bar

Caterer

Walk run

Transport

  • help to set up bar and pack up at the end of the evening

  • work a shift at the three events on the pier

  • prepare food for House Music Events and special cruises

  • assist or serve food at the events

  • be in positions at water stations throughout the 3 - 5 km event

  • starts early in the morning.

  • provide a vehicle to move auction and garage sale items to location 

  • assist with transport to school tour and visits​

All Chairperson are volunteers - If you have expertise in events, computer, media liaison, advertising, marketing, graphic arts, website input, or any other specialty and would like to volunteer as a Chairperson, please contact us at
